This LEED-registered (Core and Shell) office building houses the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. At 18 stories, it is the tallest building in Twinbrook. Built in the late 1960’s, this building that was once home to the Food and Drug Administration will undergo renovations with the goal of LEED Platinum designation.

Located half of a mile from the Twinbrook Metro station, 5600 Fishers Lane will undergo a three-phase renovation. Four brand new cores will be added along with a new glass curtain wall, a new main lobby and a 14-story atrium. Prominent sustainable features will include an energy efficient DOAS HVAC system, proximity to mass transit and the re-use of an existing building.
The renovation of Parklawn will help to revitalize the surrounding mixed-use neighborhood. Due to the consolidation of four HHS locations into the Parklawn building, four thousand employees are expected to fill the office building. The location helps to make the area more pedestrian-friendly with walking trails to Metro, urban parks and other high-quality public spaces.
